Brief Description of Project Scope:

The project mainly comprises site formation of about 23 hectares of land for provision of Boundary Control Point (BCP) buildings and associated facilities, construction of about 11km long dual 2-lane Connecting Road linking up the BCP with Fanling Highway, design and construction of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region portion of vehicular bridges and pedestrian bridge crossing Shenzhen River, associated diversion/modification works at existing local roads and junctions, drainage, sewerage, waterworks and landscaping works.

Current Progress:

Major works of the project have been completed.  The Connecting Road (named as "Heung Yuen Wai Highway") opened to public on 26 May 2019.

Scope: The works include construction of a dual two-lane trunk road (with about 0.4km of at-grade road and 4.8km of tunnel) connecting the Fanling Interchange with the Sha Tau Kok Interchange, tunnel administration building and ventilation buildings, provision and installation of ventilation system, E&M works and building services, associated landscaping works, drainage / sewerage, waterworks, utilities and traffic engineering works.

Scope: The works include the construction of an interchange with four viaducts near Kiu Tau, Fanling for the connecting road to the Boundary Control Point, widening of a section of the Fanling Highway of about 1 km long near the interchange, demolition of the existing Kiu Tau Vehicular Bridge, re-provisioning of the existing Kiu Tau Footbridge, realignment of the existing Tai Wo Service Road West and Tai Wo Service Road East, and associated slope, drainage, sewerage, water, and landscape works.

Scope: The works mainly include design, supply, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning of a traffic control and surveillance system for the connecting road linking up the Liantang/Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point and the existing Fanling Highway. The system will mainly consist of computer systems, communication facilities, variable message signs and other traffic field equipment.
