Cross Bay Link, Tseung Kwan O – Main Bridge and Associated Works received Grand Award of the “Structural Excellence Award 2023" in Project Award Category of the HKIE Structural Division

Civil Engineering and Development Department has implemented a variety of innovative techniques in the Tseung Kwan O Cross Bay Link project. These have not only improved construction quality and safety, but have also saved significant construction time. The main span of the Tseung Kwan O Cross Bay Link adopted S690QL high-strength structural steel as the steel arch material, reducing the weight of the bridge's steel components, saving costs, and minimizing the need for additional processes, thereby achieving a carbon reduction effect. At the same time, off-site prefabrication has been extensively adopted, covering all structural components and most auxiliary elements, making the installation process more efficient. We would like to express our gratitude to the colleagues from both AECOM Asia Company Limited and China Road and Bridge Corporation for their efforts, which have significantly improved the transportation network in Tseung Kwan O.
