Date of Award: 27/11/2024

At the Hong Kong Institute of Planners (HKIP) Awards Ceremony held on 27 November 2024, the East Coast Boardwalk constructed by CEDD was honoured with two prestigious awards: the "Greater Bay Area Planning Awards 2024 – Supreme Planning Award" and the "Annual Awards 2023 – Silver Award"! The two awards were jointly received by Development Bureau, Planning Department, CEDD and Meinhardt Infrastructure and Environment Limited, which also marked the first time for CEDD in receiving these two honours!

The Greater Bay Area Planning Awards 2024 focused on "Sustainable Urban Development: Integration and Utilisation of Blue-Green Resources", encouraging industry professionals involved in Greater Bay Area developments to create sustainable, liveable and human-centric cities, and recognising their outstanding achievements in urban planning in the Greater Bay Area. The "Supreme Planning Award" received by East Coast Boardwalk is the most prestigious honour. Also, the HKIP presents "Annual Awards" every year to projects with outstanding achievements in urban planning, the "Silver Award" is also the most prestigious honour in 2024! With the East Coast Boardwalk standing out among the other remarkable projects in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area in these two Awards, the achievement affirms our oustanding performance and efforts in urban planning.

With a total length of about 2.2 km, the Boardwalk is divided into the eastern and western sections. It is a critical harbourfront facility defining the shoreline of Hong Kong Island North by ingeniously utilising the space underneath the Island Eastern Corridor. The Boardwalk's western section has a length of about 1.1 km, of which 700 metres serve to link the East Coast Park Precinct and the North Point Promenade (NPP), while the remaining 400 metres comprise the enhanced NPP. The Boardwalk's eastern section will connect Hoi Yu Street in Quarry Bay from the NPP and is expected to be completed progressively in the second half of 2025. Upon the full opening of the Boardwalk, there will be a continuous harbourfront of some 13 km long, spanning from Kennedy Town to Shau Kei Wan.
