Date of Award: 17/06/2026
The Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation Annual Award aims to recognize and celebrate the outstanding achievements and exceptional contributions made by professionals in the highways and transportation sector. Tung Chung Coastal Pedestrian Access, constructed under the Tung Chung New Town Extension – Site Formation and Infrastructure Works at Ma Wan Chung Project, is approximately 240 metres long, providing a pedestrian linkage between Tung Chung Town Centre and Yat Tung Estate/ Ma Wan Chung area in the form of a footbridge, at-grade footpath and barrier-free access. With the commissioning of the Tung Chung Coastal Pedestrian Access, it has significantly reduced the walking time between Tung Chung Town Centre and Ma Wan Chung area. It narrowed the distance between Tung Chung Town Centre and the rural areas of Tung Chung, helping to foster "urban-rural integration". In addition, the public can enjoy the stunning coastal scenery and the beautiful sunset over Tung Chung Bay from the Tung Chung Coastal Pedestrian Access.
