“Safer Living 2.0” Launching Ceremony and Thematic Exhibition

10/06/2019 - 19/06/2019

"Safer Living 2.0" is a one-year cross departments/Non-Government Organisation public education event aiming to enhance public awareness to natural disasters (e.g. typhoon, storm surge, flooding, landslide, etc.) via a series of exhibitions, seminars, visits, contests, etc. Climate change can lead to more frequent extreme weather events. Hong Kong will be subjected to more severe and more frequent natural hazards. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen awareness of the public with respect to disasters preparedness knowledge, as well as self-help tips for natural disasters. With these self-help tips, the public could avoid casualties when a disaster comes, and so could wait for rescue. This, in turns enhances community resilience against natural disasters.

Organisers include Civil Engineering and Development Department, Hong Kong Observatory, Drainage Services Department, Development Bureau (Tree Management Office), Security Bureau, Fire Services Department, Auxiliary Medical Service, Civil Aid Service, Hong Kong Red Cross and Hong Kong Jockey Club Disaster Preparedness and Response Institute.
