Prelude to “Safer Living 2.0” – School Ambassador Programme

The "School Ambassador Programme" of the Geotechnical Engineering Office, is a STEM roving exhibition developed based on the Geography syllabus, including the topics of Hong Kong geology, natural disaster, landslide and sustainable development, etc. The content of the STEM workshops includes aerial photo interpretation using stereoscope, rock and mineral identification, soil sieving analysis, engineering rock and soil interpretation, quiz game and virtual reality landslide experience. To enhance the students' experience, our geotechnical engineers were assigned as school ambassadors to guide the students through the exhibition. The 1st session of the "School Ambassador Programme" commenced in March 2019 roving among about 50 primary and secondary schools*. The 2nd session of the programme will begin in September 2019. New partners including the Fire Services Department, the Hong Kong Red Cross, the Civil Engineering Office, etc. will join and the exhibition content related to natural disasters preparedness will be enhanced, aiming to promote "Safer Living 2.0" to all schools in Hong Kong.
