Stratigraphy: Jurassic volcanic rocks with an age of approximately 164.1 ± 0.2 million years before present.

Distribution: The Sai Lau Kong Formation is restricted to the northwest-trending outcrop in the northeastern New Territories around Sai Lau Kong.

Lithology: Flow-banded dacite lava, minor vitric tuff, tuff breccia and intercalated siltstone.
