Achievement in Wan Chai Development Phase II Project

Construction of Wan Chai Development Phase II Project commenced in end 2009. The reprovisioning works required have been completed. Besides completing those underground utilities that might not be noticeable by the public, the new permanent government helipad at Expo Drive East was put into operation in May 2012; WSD's salt water pumping station by the side of the original harbourfront was relocated to the hinterland in April 2014 in order to free up more of the harbourfront for the public's enjoyment; and the new Wan Chai Ferry Pier commenced operation in August 2014. Besides, a gigantic precast structure which weighs 45,000 tonnes and of the size of a standard soccer pitch for land formation and a section of Central-Wan Chai Bypass (CWB) over the MTR Tsuen Wan Line tunnels was delivered to Wan Chai and installed in position successfully on 15 July 2013.
