Following the Design Competition for the Revitalization of Tai O in 2008 and the public consultation on the Tai O Improvement Works Concept Plan (the Plan) prepared based on the design concepts collected through the Design Competition, a consultancy for the design and construction supervision for the improvement proposals at Tai O as outlined in the Plan commenced in December 2009. Amongst the various improvement proposals under the Plan, those proposals aiming to improve local infrastructure which will most readily address local needs were implemented under the first contract. This contract included the construction of riverwall at Yat Chung, Tai O and the associated drainage and sewerage improvement works, upgrading of the garden in front of Kwan Tai Temple and improvement to the signage within the inner-core area of Tai O. Construction works had been completed, and the facilities were commissioned in mid 2014.
