CEDD signs contract for Tseung Kwan O – Lam Tin Tunnel – Road P2 and Associated Works (with photos)
(post date: 02/08/2016)
The Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) today (August 2) signed a contract of about $1,777 million with CRBC-Build King Joint Venture for the Tseung Kwan O – Lam Tin Tunnel – Road P2 and Associated Works for completion in mid 2021. It is the second largest contract of the Tseung Kwan O – Lam Tin Tunnel project following the first main tunnel contract signed in mid July 2016.
This contract mainly comprises the reclamation of approximately 3 hectares at Junk Bay, the construction of the dual two-lane Road P2 of approximately 800 m long with approximately 200 m of the depressed carriageway covered by landscape deck, and the implementation of the associated building, civil, structural, marine, electrical and mechanical, landscaping and environmental protection and mitigation works.
The main objectives of the project are to provide a new tunnel in Tseung Kwan O to alleviate the traffic congestions occurring during peak hours at the Tseung Kwan O Tunnel at present and to meet the traffic demand arising from the anticipated population increase in Tseung Kwan O. The project will also improve the traffic conditions in Kwun Tong district, and hence cope with the future developments in the district.
