CEDD signs contract for Stage 2 infrastructure works for developments at southern part of former runway at Kai Tak (with photo)

The Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) on 4 December 2015 signed a contract of about $1,947 million with CEC - CCC Joint Venture for the Kai Tak Development - Stage 2 Infrastructure Works for Developments at the Southern Part of the Former Runway.

The contract mainly comprises realignment and widening of the existing Shing Fung Road, construction of associated roads as well as an elevated landscaped deck and noise barriers along the realigned Shing Fung Road, upgrading of an existing road on Kai Tak Bridge, improvement to three existing road junctions in Kowloon Bay, and ancillary works including associated footpaths, street lighting, traffic aids, drainage, sewerage, water mains, district cooling mains and landscaping works.

The works commenced on 30 November 2015 for substantial completion in phases between end 2017 and 2019.

The main objective of the works is to provide the second stage of essential infrastructure to support the planned developments for residential, commercial and other specified uses at the southern part of the former runway in the Kai Tak Development Area.
