Description : The works include ground investigation and laboratory testing on soil and rock samples obtained from the ground investigation works for some 10 government slopes and retaining wall and some 5 natural terrain study areas in Kowloon and New Territories East. The works are scheduled to commence in July 2012 and will take about 18 months to complete.

Submission of Tender : Sealed tenders, in duplicate, must be clearly marked with the tender reference and the subject of the tender on the outside of the envelope (but should not bear any indication which may relate the tender to the tenderer) addressed to the Chairman, Public Works Tender Board, and placed in the Government Public Works Tender Box situated in Room 4128f on the 41st Floor, Queensway Government Offices, 66 Queensway, Hong Kong, before 12:00 noon on Friday, 25 May 2012. Late tenders will not be accepted.
Remarks : a. Contractors on the List of Approved Suppliers of Materials and Specialist Contractors for Public Works - Ground Investigation Field Work Group II are invited to tender. Contractors will be liable to have their names removed from the approved list if they fail or refuse to implement an accepted tender.

b. In the event a typhoon signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning is hoisted between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon on Friday, 25 May 2012, the tender closing time will be postponed to 12:00 noon on the first working day of the following week. An announcement of the change will be made through the radio.

c. The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region does not bind itself to accept any tender irrespective of whether the tender is the lowest bid or, where the assessment of the tenders is based on a marking scheme or formula approach, the tender has the highest overall mark.

d. The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region reserves the right to negotiate with any tenderer about the terms of the offer.

e. Details of the award of this contract will be published in the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Gazette and made available on the Internet.

Subject : Widening of Tin Ha Road and Tan Kwai Tsuen Road
Description : The works mainly comprise:

(i) Widening of approximately 1.2 km of the existing Tin Ha Road between Ping Ha Road and San Lee Uk Tsuen to standard 7.3 m wide single two-way two-lane carriageway;

(ii) Widening of approximately 550 m of the existing Tan Kwai Tsuen Road between Castle Peak Road – Hung Shui Kiu and the road bend at Meadowlands to standard 7.3 m wide single two-way two-lane carriageway;

(iii) Construction of box culverts at Tin Ha Road; and

(iv) Ancillary works including drainage and landscaping works, environmental mitigation measures, traffic aids, road lighting and re-provisioning of refuse collection points.

The works are scheduled to commence in August 2012 and will take about 24 months to complete.
