The works include upgrading of some 35 government slopes and retaining walls in Sha Tin, Tai Po and Tsuen Wan. The works are scheduled to commence in May 2010 and will take about 24 months to complete.

Remarks :
a. Contractors on the List of Approved Suppliers of Materials and Specialist Contractors for Public Works - Landslip Preventive/Remedial Works to Slopes/Retaining Walls are invited to tender. Contractors will be liable to have their names removed from the approved list if they fail or refuse to implement an accepted tender.
b. In the event a typhoon signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning is hoisted between 9 a.m. and 12 noon on Friday, 5 March 2010, the tender closing time will be postponed to 12 noon on the first working day of the following week. An announcement of the change will be made through the radio.
c. The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region does not bind itself to accept any tender irrespective of whether the tender is the lowest bid or, where the assessment of the tenders is based on a marking scheme or formula approach, the tender has the highest overall mark.
d. The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region reserves the right to negotiate with any tenderer about the terms of the offer.
e. Details of the award of this contract will be published in the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Gazette and made available on the Internet.

The works include construction of a new cycle track (with footpath) about 5 kilometres (km) in length to link up the existing cycle tracks in Fanling and Tai Po, including the associated bridges, decking of existing nullahs and reconstruction of a section of an existing access road (about 1.6 km long) along the cycle track; improvement works to selected sections of existing cycle tracks in Sheung Shui, Fanling, Tai Po and Sha Tin (about 1 km in length in total) including widening to current standards and erection of additional road signs; provision of resting stations; associated landscaping and ancillary works; provision of necessary environmental mitigation measures and implementation of an environmental monitoring and audit (EM&A) programme for the works. The works are scheduled to commence in June 2010 and will take about 28 months to complete.
