Application for Longlisting of Consultants for LPM Consultancies and Related Geotechnical Consultancies
  1. Introduction

    The eligibility for inclusion in the longlist of consultants for LPM consultancies and related geotechnical consultancies administered by the Geotechnical Engineering Office (GEO) of the Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD), together with the method of application for inclusion in the longlist, are provided below.


  2. Longlisting Criteria

    The following criteria must be met for longlisting of consultants for new LPM consultancies and other related geotechnical consultancies:


    1. A company registered in Hong Kong with an office and staff in Hong Kong.
    2. A member of the staff in Hong Kong is an RPE(G) under the Engineers Registration Ordinance (Cap. 409), who is either a director, or a senior geotechnical engineer or above with a minimum of 15 years relevant post-graduate geotechnical experience (5 years of which must be in Hong Kong).
    3. The geotechnical professionals in (1) and (2) above should have a track record of geotechnical work in Hong Kong.
    4. The company should have obtained ISO 9001:2008 certification covering geotechnical engineering.
  3. Required Documentation

    The documents to be provided should include, inter alia, a copy of the business registration, the curriculum vitae of geotechnical staff in the Hong Kong office, documentary proof that at least one of the members of staff in Hong Kong is an RPE(G) and that he or she is either a director, or a senior geotechnical engineer or above with the requisite experience, evidence of full-time employment of the named director or senior geotechnical engineer or above, and a copy of the ISO 9001:2008 certificate.


  4. Method of Application

    If you wish to be included in the longlist for future LPM consultancies and other new geotechnical consultancies to be let by the GEO of CEDD, the necessary documentary evidence in respect of compliance with the longlisting criteria should be submitted to:

Applications for inclusion in the longlist may be submitted under confidential cover at any time.


Applicants are requested to ensure that they meet all the stipulated criteria before making a submission. If there are doubts or queries, please contact the Technical Secretary/GEO before making the submission.


Given that compliance with the longlisting criteria may be affected by staff movements, successful applicants will be approached by the GEO at approximately six-monthly intervals for updated information regarding the prevailing professional geotechnical staff in their firms as well as other related information for assessment against the stipulated criteria. Successful applicants are required to provide updated information to the GEO as soon as possible if there are any changes in circumstances which may affect their eligibility to remain on the longlist.
