Community Advice on Slope Safety

A "Community Advisory Unit" (CAU) has been set up in the GEO to assist private slope owners to discharge their slope maintenance responsibility through direct community outreach advisory and information services.

The CAU has the following principal functions:

  1. organise slope safety and maintenance seminars and talks for private slope owners and bodies involved in slope maintenance;
  2. provide a meet-the-public service to answer queries and provide information on slope safety matters;
  3. meet private owners or their representatives who have received Dangerous Hillside Orders to advise them on how to proceed with the necessary slope upgrading works;
  4. meet Owners' Corporations and Mutual Aid Committees to advise them on how to undertake slope maintenance works.

The CAU reaches out to the community by organising seminars and talks on slope safety and slope maintenance matters. A regular program of 'Meet-the-Public' services is also provided to answer concerns and give slope and related information to the public. The CAU takes a proactive approach to contact those private slope owners who have received Dangerous Hillside (DH) Orders. When needed, the Unit offers advice on how to proceed with the investigation and implementation of the necessary slope works for prompt and satisfactory compliance with the DH Orders.

The CAU can be contacted at telephone number 2760 5800 or by electronic mail at cau@cedd.gov.hk
