By considering the character and needs of an area, a GMP seeks to define the
overall greening framework of the area, and serves
as a guide for all parties involved in planning,
design and implementation of greening works. In
addition to identifying suitable locations for
planting, the GMP will establish the greening
themes and propose suitable planting species.

The short-term greening works for Mong Kok, Yau Ma

in the relevant GMPs started
in August 2008 and are expected
to be completed by end 2009.
The short-term greening works

Sham Shui Po, Kowloon City,
Wong Tai Sin and Kwun Tong
as recommended in the relevant
GMPs are scheduled to start
in end 2009 and are expected
to be completed by mid 2011.
We will closely monitor the on-going studies and planned
developments in the districts
so as to promote the implementation
of the associated medium-term
greening measures. A strategy
for taking forward the long-term
greening measures will be
mapped out later on.
GMPs for the New Territories
We intend to extend our GMP initiative to the New Territories.
In view of the large study area involved, we expect
the GMPs will focus on core town centres, tourist attraction
locations and major transportation routes in the New
Territories. We shall consult the relevant District
Councils and stakeholders in 2009 before finalizing
the study coverage.
Your Participation
Community support of the GMPs is very important. We welcome your
comments and suggestions on the contents of the GMPs
and your participation in the implementation and/or
maintenance of the greening works. Please contact us
with your ideas.
