Footbridge across Hip Wo Street near the Junction of Hip Wo Street / Mut Wah Street - Received Highly Commended Award of the “NEC Transport Project of the Year 2021”

Date of Award: 24/06/2021

The footbridge across Hip Wo Street is an essential part of an integrated footbridge system connecting the existing Kwun Tong community with the town centre redevelopment being undertaken by the Urban Renewal Authority.  It will enhance the connectivity between Yuet Wah Street, Hip Wo Street, Mut Wah Street and the neighbouring areas, and provide a convenient barrier-free access to the Kwun Tong Community Health Centre Building.

Adhering to the spirit of New Engineering Contract (NEC), the project team members work collaboratively with mutual trust and co-operation, building up an amicable and trustworthy relationship.  The project team has managed to identify and overcome the challenges encountered early on, through open-minded discussions in risk reduction meetings.  The project is expected to be completed about 6 months ahead of the original schedule.  The project received Highly Commended Award of the "NEC Transport Project of the Year 2021" presented by the Institution of Civil Engineers of the United Kingdom.
