Welcome to the website of the Civil Engineering
and Development Department.
Our prime role is to provide high quality
civil engineering infrastructure to meet Hong Kong's development
needs.
Since the establishment of the department
in July 2004, we have made good progress on various fronts.
On the project side, we have successfully
completed the infrastructure works for the Hong Kong Disneyland.
The project has just won the Sixth Tien-Yow Jeme Civil Engineering
Prize, which is the greatest honour in the field of civil
engineering construction nationwide. This is a great encouragement
to our staff.
We have recently completed Piers No. 7 and
No. 8 in Central, which have been open for public use. We
are now proceeding in full swing with the final stage of the
Central Reclamation Phase III. For the Kai Tak Development,
we have commenced the engineering review and are actively
pursuing the development of the new cruise terminal.
On greening, we have just completed the Greening
Master Plan planting works in Central and Tsim Sha Tsui, significantly
enhancing the greening environment in these two districts.
We will continue to draw up Greening Master Plans for other
districts.
On slope safety, we will continue to implement
the Landslip Preventive Measures Programme to further reduce
landslide risk. We will also continue to provide community
advisory services and public education to raise public awareness
of landslide threats.
To enhance the operation of the department,
we have developed our first strategic plan to realize our
vision, mission and values. Our staff are now actively taking
forward the initiatives in the strategic plan to strive for
engineering excellence.
You are most welcome to browse through our
website and we hope you find it interesting and informative.
We would be happy to hear from you if you have any comments
and suggestions.
