Mainland West Division |

The Mainland West Division is responsible for geotechnical
control of all building development and civil engineering
works in the western part of Kowloon and the New Territories,
including the outlying islands. This includes auditing
foundation proposals for developments in Yuen Long (where
marble
with cavities exists beneath the superficial deposits)
and Northshore Lantau (where complex
geological conditions exist).Major projects in which
the Division is currently involved include Hong Kong
Section of Guangzhou - Shenzhen - Hong Kong Express
Rail Link,
Lai Chi Kok Transfer Scheme, Tsuen Wan Drainage Tunnel,
CLP Castle Peak Cable Tunnel and Castle Peak Road Improvement.
This Division also carries out inspection of landslip
incidents, coordinates matters relating to the non-development
clearance of squatter structures on slope safety
grounds, and provides geotechnical advice to other Government
Departments.
